Tesuque Blue was offered at the annual seed blessing and exchange in the spring. The medium tall, very stout stalks bear two 10" ears with kernels of a deep violet blue. Tight husks and longer flags keep bugs at bay, though I did put a drop or two of mineral oil on the silks early. The pueblo of Tesuque is just north of Santa Fe and is a beautiful place. The corn makes a wonderful ornamental, but here it is ground for meal and made into flavorful tortillas. Grow a taste of Northern New Mexico in your garden this summer. I'll send about an ounce of seed to U.S. addresses which will plant a 12x12 foot block. (no international sales)
