Stinging Nettle, Urtica dioica, is Hardy to zones 4-9. They will grow in shade or part sun and like a bit of moisture. The plant, while young, isn't too stingy but when it reaches a couple feet high it is stinging to the touch, therefore the name, stinging nettle. You need more plants than one to flower and seed, as the plants are either male or female and are not self fertile. In good ground they will grow three to four feet high. Used as a wild spring vegetable. Snip them when they are four to five inches high and lightly boil to take away the stinging little hairs. You may sow the seed in the fall for spring growth or you may press them onto moist soil and keep moist and in light until they germinate which should be in 10 to 14 days. 40 seeds per pkg.
