These natural, untreated aster flower seeds grow into beautiful lavender wildflowers with bright yellow centers on stems with green, feathery leaves. They prefer full sun & are very drought-resistant. They grow very well with other wildflowers. Perfect for use in wildflower, floral & rock gardens & as boarders. Also great for mass planting in meadows, lawns, pastures, roadsides, hillsides, wildflower mixtures or in borders. Great for hard-to-maintain areas & prefers sandy or gravelly soil - Periodic watering will encourage blooms. Prefers good drainage & full sun. They grow anywhere from 8"-18" tall. Blooms mid-spring through autumn, May until October. PLANTING:WINTER-SPRING (November-May) - Plant in well-drained, sandy or gravelly soil in FULL SUN. Cover seeds with 1/16" of soil or gently rake them in. Gently water & keep damp until established. When temps are around 55-65, seeds will sprout in 15-35 days. Seeds will germinate better after receiving 2 weeks cool, moist weather or cold stratification. If sowing indoors, store in a moistened medium in refrigerator for 2 weeks prior to sowing (cold stratification) otherwise sow seeds outdoors in early spring. These flowers are often used as a forb component for restoration projects and wildlife enhancement projects. Once established they are extremely drought tolerant flowers. They will compete with undesirable non-native species like cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) and knapweed species (Centaurea spp.). Its tall stature and showy flowers provide diversity especially in a flower seed planting for wildlife. These seeds are great for erosion protection in restoration projects (post-wildfire or flood reclamation projects) or for enhancing flower & plant diversity. These flowers have been utilized by Native American Tribes for a variety of medicinal and decorative purposes for a long time. Some used these flowers to make necklaces and many tribes used these flowers for treating gastrointestinal issues, respiratory problems, and for nose and throat troubles. Honey bees and leaf-cutter bees, birds and butterflies all love the prolific blooms! These flowers are commonly found in open meadows and areas, subalpine coniferous forests, oak woodlands, grasslands, creosote bush, sagebrush scrublands, foothill fields, along streams, roadsides.
