1500+ 1/4-oz Green Pointed Leaf GAILAN Gai Lan seeds; KAILAAN Chinese Kale 綠葉芥蘭; a.k.a. Chinese Broccoli, 50-55 days. These seeds can produce 30-40 lbs of GaiLan, if you have 200 sqft garden plot area and use transplant method. Or save half of the seeds for autumn planting.Either direct sowing onto well worked fertile soil, thin out the crowded area and eat them as stir fried baby greens or put some into ramen soup. Or transplant them when seedlings have 2-3 true leaves, 4” apart with rows 10” apart. Do avoid hot summer period as bolting may occur quicker and stems won’t be as tender as spring or autumn crops. Partial shade is fine for zone 9-10, but full sun is preferred for zone 5 & colder climate. Here in SW Chicago ‘burb zone 5B, spring planting for direct sowing is mid April. Autumn direct sowing should occur around mid to late August, although seedling transplant could be as late as mid September, especially for low tunnel setup to protect early frost damage. Most popular recipe is boiled gailan top off with oyster sauce, 蠔油芥蘭。Beef with Chinese Broccoli 芥蘭牛肉。I am addicted to Roast Duck Breast with Chinese Broccoli offered at My Thai restaurant at Chicago West Loop. $3.95 S&H via USPS First Class with Tracking Number, combined multiple items & save!
