Pomegranate Seeds(Punica granatum)Deciduous Fruiting Shrub (Evergreen in warm climates) * Common Names = Pomegranate / Granate Apple / Shi Liu* Ornamental shrub with glossy leaves and red trumpet-shaped flowers.* Drought tolerant with an annual yield +/- 70 lbs of fruit with diameter of 10-12 cm.* Attracts, and is pollinated by, butterflies & bees.* Pomegranate is recorded to have been first cultivated over 3,000 years ago in Persia* Fruit has antibacterial properties and is high in antioxidants. Juice of the fruit is used in drinks, sauces, and jellies.* Flowers are used in tea for digestion and respiratory issues* A red dye is made from the flowers and unripened fruit to use as ink. Black ink is made from the root bark.* The whole plant contains pelletierine alkaloids, which are successful at paralyzing & releasing tapeworms The dried fruit peel is also available in our shop, when stock is plentiful. Germination should occur in 30-40 days. Using a heat mat will speed up the germination time.3. Resize into bigger pots as needed. Transplant after last frost when plants are well-established.
