Royal Purple is about 8 ounces and the flesh is a stunning deep red with green streaks around the seeds. The flavor is deep and complex. I believe it is an accidental cross of Indian Stripe. It is earlier and much more productive and vigorous than Cherokee Purple. This variety takes about 68 days to mature, and the indeterminate plants reach about 5 feet.
