Fritillaria eastwoodiae is a perennial in the Liliaceae family. They are known as Butte County fritillary or Eastwood's fritillary. A native to southern Oregon, northern Sierra Nevada, and the Cascade Mountains in California. Fritillaria eastwoodiae grows to heights of 8 to 30 inches. Blooming from March to May, the flowers nod down with a molting orange, yellow and brown color. It is found growing in woodlands that are dry and open around 1500-5000 feet in elevation. It can grow in full sun with moist soil but not too wet. Also, the ground must have good drainage. Zones 6-9 Germination Mix seeds and soil together in a ziplock bag. Write the name of the seed on the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 60 days. Seed should be sown into well-drained, sandy compost and covered to their own depth with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in filtered light and keep moist. Seeds germinate very slowly and may take more than a year to germinate.
