These seeds come from plants that have never been exposed to poisons or chemicals. This plant starts growing quickly in the early spring and blooms in mid to late spring for about 6 weeks. Grows normally from 2 - 8 inches in height but I have occasionally seen them grown to almost 12 inches tall. They love full sun to light shade areas and moist earth. Though they are related to stinging nettles, the purple dead nettle does not have any of the stinging hairs on their stems to worry about and that is how they got the "Dead" in their name. While bees love these plants as an early spring food, the flowers and leaves are also edible for humans with the flowers having a slight sweet taste, they make wonderful additions to salads, stir-fry's and sauces. While I am not a doctor nor am I promoting medicinal uses of this plant, that being said, there are recipes online that you can find to enable to make salves and lotions, teas, poultices and tinctures for various uses. There are warnings that you should not take internally if you are pregnant or nursing.
