Thorburn & Company. After 119 years in operation, J. M. Thorburn & Company went bankrupt in 1921, and the majority of its seed library was lost. However, the seeds were reintroduced to the public in the early 1990s by William Woys Weaver. Semi-determinate vines produce 3 to 8 ounce fruits whose coppery-bronze skin and orange-pink flesh are truly stunning and unique. Flavor is rich, sweet, and wonderfully tangy. Start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last spring frost, sowing the seeds 1/8 inch deep in a seed flat or cell tray.
