Super easy to grow; can be sowed through out the growing season (here in Chicago SW ‘burb zone 5B, direct outdoor sowing from mid April to early September). Although it may flower quickly during the summer months, the ready-to-blossom flower stems are pretty tasty as well.Some growing tips:Prepare the veggie bed with lots of organic matters such as compost or manure, work the soil at least 4″ deep, 6″ would be even better.Direct sowing when overnight low is above 40F, or couple weeks after the last frost. Do not over-seed, as 7 grams of seeds can cover 50-75 sqft area easilyUsed phased approach, cultivate a subplot every two weeks, to continue the harvest throughout the summerCover the seeds with 1/4” fine soil; in warm weather the seeds will germinate in 3-4 days; ready to harvest in just 40 days.Water in the morning rather than in the evening, as caterpillars and slugs love the moisture and buffet on the leaves.If too many seedlings, thin out the crowded area and eat them as stir fried baby greens, make soup, or sprinkle them onto ramen noodles.
