Green Mountain Potato Onion Seeds and Bulbs ~ Organic Multiplier Onions

Green Mountain Potato Onion, seeds or bulbs. Potato onions (also known as multiplier onion) are a variety of Allium similar to a shallot but producing larger bulbs. Green Mountain onions are similar to other multiplier onion varieties except they grow to be much larger. I plant my bulbs either in the fall or in the spring and they mature mid summer, several new onions grow from each bulb planted. Multiplier onions are typically grown from planting bulbs but can also be grown from seed just like other onions. These seeds are harvested from my Green Mountain potato onions which I have grown from bulb division of the original Green Mountain bulbs I obtained years ago. The bulbs I sell are all grown from division of the original Green Mountain bulbs and are not bulbs that I’ve grown from seed. I’ve been growing these onions naturally and organically on my Kansas farm for a number of years and have found them to be very easy to grow and harvest and they produce very reliably for me. Some vegetable varieties produce seed that remains viable for many years (tomatoes) and others produce seed that does not store well under any conditions (onions). Suitable for growing in greenhouses, garden plots, raised beds, and containers. This yellow onion is considered a long-day type and may be grown in intermediate-day regions as well. Recommended by Utah State University and is the state vegetable of Utah. Large bulbs weighing over a pound have great storage capabilities. This Spanish Onion is relatively easy to grow with moderate pink root tolerance. How to Grow Utah Yellow Sweet Spanish Onion from SeedOnion is a cool hardy vegetable that can be sown directly 6-8 weeks prior to final spring frost or about 4-6 weeks before the first autumn frost. Seeds may also be begun indoors for early starts. Soil should be well-tilled, nitrogen-rich, with a pH of 6.0-7.0.
