Valerian seeds (valeriana officinalis). Organic. Perennial, zones 4-8. Medicinal herb used as a sedative. In second year it flowers white and the plant grows to 5 feet. Seeds need light to germinate. Seeds also need 3 months of cold cycle before they will germinate. Either plant outdoors in fall for spring growth or refrigerate for 3 months. Tamp into moist soil and keep moist. Germinates in about 2 weeks. Space 1 1/2 to 2 feet apart in full sun to part shade. 50 seeds per pkt.
