Scarlet sage (Texas sage): Flowers entire summer until frost. Annual up to Zone 7 b, and perennial in Zone 8 & 11. Requires full sun, dry well-drained soil, and grows to about 18 – 24 inches high. Attracts wildlife; it’s a favorite of hummingbirds (especially before migration) and butterflies. Seeds are relished by Yellow American Finches. This Salvia self-seeds freely, so next year you will have plenty of seedlings to transplant or leave in place.
