MADE IN USA Back in 2010 I bought my first assortment of heirloom seeds, off ebay actually, from Blue Ribbon Tomatoes in Kentucky. Unfortunately, they are no longer selling heirloom tomato seed, boo! Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. One of those tomatoes that I just started saving seed from this last year was LIGHT BLUE CHERRY tomato. This tomato performs great and is DIFFERENT! The original tomato, DARK BLUE CHERRY tomato, performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet in 2016. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. Back to the story…These tomato seeds came from seed I had saved in 2016 of DARK BLUE CHERRY. One of the plants of DK BLUE CHERRY I planted out this year, 2017, put out fruit that was lighter in color than normal. All of the fruit on this plant were of lighter color. It was easily apparent because I had two other DK BLUE CHERRY tomato plants growing right next to it with the darker blue fruit. This is an awesome tomato. VERY PRODUCTIVE, this is a great variety FOR KIDS! Easy to grow.A cherry sized, dark pink/violet color tomato. Very TASTY! This was great again in salsa, salads, and just eating as a snack.Great choice for an “HEIRLOOM TASTING PLATTER” with different colors of cherry tomatoes, this one really stands out.Did You Know? I have been saving seed for 7 years and this is the step by step process I use every year and I’ll tell you, my germination rates are amazing! a quick note on seed storage… I feel through my experience the best way to store your seed is in the refrigerator. Some vegetable varieties produce seed that remains viable for many years (tomatoes) and others produce seed that does not store well under any conditions (onions). I believe seed stored under refrigerated conditions could last 10 years or more. I have just planted some ACE 55 seeds from 2000 during summer 2017. They did great! Germination rates were in the 90% range and these seeds had been sitting in a box in my garage for the past 17 years! I have some of that seed available now listed as Marlboro Ace 55. GET SOME!At Frontier Farms, I specialize in many varieties of Heirloom tomatoes, peppers, plus many other vegetable varieties. WHAT IS AN HEIRLOOM? Heirloom plants are grown from seeds that have been handed down thru generations, saved from year to year, some varieties dating back hundreds of years. Many made the migration from Europe and the East with the immigrants coming to the USA. The seeds are never cross pollinated and so they remain true to their particular characteristics. Heirloom tomatoes come in all colors, shapes, and sizes ? Reds, Pinks, Yellows, Orange, White, Green, Striped, and Black. Ranging in sizes of cherry and grape to large grapefruit size, meaty, or juicy. WHY HEIRLOOM? These tomatoes are more natural, they are non GMO (genetically modified). They do not have as long of a shelf life as store bought tomatoes, but that is what makes them special. They have a real fantastic tomato flavor not found in grocery store offerings. These tomatoes are indeterminate (they grow all season, they flower all season and they produce tomatoes all season. They don?t stop until frost. Once heirloom tomatoes are picked, they do not have a long shelf life as hybrids but they more than make up for any shortcomings in flavor. Please see my other listings and my store for more great varieties and thank you!

Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. One of those tomatoes that I continue to grow out is the COYOTE CHERRY. This tomato performs great! This tomato, COYOTE CHERRY , performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. COYOTE WILD YELLOW CHERRY TOMATO—–20 seeds per packet—–VERY PRODUCTIVE, this is a great variety. 65 days, INDETERMINATEA cluster of ripe “Coyote” tomatoes, still on the vine, was given to Craig LeHoullier by Maye Clement from Vera Cruz, Mexico, in 1990 during her visit to his display at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Harvest Festival. She related that it was a tomato that grew wild in Mexico (Craig’s note: there is more to add, but I need to find the letter she sent to me). Due to the pale color, Craig mistakenly originally listed it in the SSE yearbook as Ivory Currant – but the true name, according to Maye, is indeed “Coyote”.Wild white/yellow cherry from Mexico, large plant gets loaded with them, voted the “Tastiest” tomato at the CHOPTAG 09 tomato tasting, sweet like eating bits of fruit.Delightful little cherry tomatoes are creamy ivory with hints of yellow and an absolutely unforgettable taste. The flavor is not only sweet but is also marked by a fruity complexity. They are so irresistible that you won’t want to stop eating them at harvest time. Plants are large and quite prolific, bearing long clusters of these 1/2-inch delicious little treats. Heirloom variety originally from Mexico. This is close in shape and flavor ot another cherry tomato I currently have available, THE CHAMPAGNE CHERRY TOMATO. Champagne Cherry won “CHOPTAG” IN ’07, so you know they are both delicious. Champagne is just slightly larger than the fruit of Coyote, but both grow to be huge spawling plants with HUNDREDS of tomatoes on each plant. I canned these one year and was able to enjoy them through the winter months.Great choice for an “HEIRLOOM TASTING PLATTER” with different colors. Lots of ways to get creative here.Did You Know? We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative. We pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants. The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political and cultural threats. We feel that genetically engineered varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necessary to further assess the potential risks of genetically engineered seeds.
