To give your pepper plants a great head start, plant red pepper seeds indoors about 8-12 weeks before you set them outside when there is no chance of frost & it is warm in your planting zone. Cover the seed with about 1/4″ of moistened planting mix in flats or peat pots (preferably enclose the flat in a plastic bag or cover) and put it in a very sunny spot or provide artificial light for 24 hours a day until they start sprouting, which can take from 10 days to more than 2 weeks.
