Primula parryi is a herbaceous perennial for your Alpine or rock garden in the Primulaceae family. The common name in Parry’s primrose. A native to Montana, Arizona, and New Mexico. It can grow from 6-18 inches tall and around a foot wide but will spread out if given plenty of water which it requires. It can grow in part sun but will prefer full sun. It blooms from late spring to early fall. The leaves are plentiful with smooth leathery-like to the touch. The flowers are a beautiful magenta atop a stem reaching 18 inches tall. It has a skunk-like smell to it.  Zones 3-5 Germination Mix seeds and moistened soil together in a ziplock bag. Write the name on the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 60 days. Soak seeds for 12 hours. Sow seeds into a well-drained, sandy compost and cover seeds to their own depth with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in bright light and keep moist. Seeds may germinate slowly.
