Synonyms: Alisma parviflorum, Alisma subcordatum, Alisma triviale .( I’m also selling these as live plants now , see my other items for sale )These are very fast growing plants that self seed readily . This is a low growing water plant that sends up a flower-stalk, which rises directly from the plant and is obtusely three- cornered and it is from 1 to 3 feet in height. The flower-bearing branches that spring laterally from this are themselves branched forming a loose pyramidal panicle. The large leaves, broad below, but tapering to a point, all spring directly from the root also and are borne on long, triangular stalks, growing in a nearly erect position. They are smooth in texture, their margins often more or less waved and are very strongly veined, the mid-rib and about three on each side being very conspicuous. The small white flowers are attractive in form and color. Medicinal use of Great Water Plantain: The leaves are antibacterial, anticholesterolemic, diaphoretic, diuretic, hypoglycaemic and hypotensive.
