First cultivated by humans around 8000 BCE, it is one of the earliest examples of domesticated plants. Many wildlife animals feed on the fruits, including bats, birds, squirrels, civets, rats, mice, monkeys, and apes. These animals help important the seeds for dispersal. This species gets 3 feet tall or even shorter. It produces small little finger bananas. They grow best in full sun and must regularly be watered as they are big eaters.
