Before sowing, the seeds are often soaked in water for 24 to 48 hours to soften the seed coat and initiate the germination process. The pre-germinated seeds are then sown directly into well-prepared, water-retentive soil or flooded paddy fields, where a shallow layer of water is maintained to support even growth.
