Meaning they come back every year from their own roots. The clump gets larger with each coming year. They love partial shade, but can grow in full shade and sun as well. The optimum planting time is in summer when this plant is going to seed naturally. They will often germinate the same summer if in woodland moist conditions protected from summer sun. I normally sell only my annual growing Papaver Sominferum, but that is not all I grow. I decided to collect seeds from these plants this year and offer them up as well. They are such a sweet looking plant with their lacy soft leaves that fit right in with maples, hostas and bleeding hearts. They look fabulous in rock gardens where they will grow in crevices and remain small. If grown in the open, the flowers reach about 18″ tall.
