Both beautiful and versatile, Elecampane is perennial to zone 3. Elecampane is known for its traditional use supporting the body during lung afflictions such as chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. Elfdock is specifically helpful with conditions where there is irritation of the trachea and bronchi that can manifest as a persistent, irritable cough.

Elecampane, Official (Inula helenium) Seed, organic. Perennial herb. Zone 3-8. Grows to five feet tall with pretty yellow flowers. The root is used in medicine in the second or third year but beyond that the root will be too tough. Space plants at least two feet apart as Elecampane can get huge leaves- about 2 ft long! You may plant seeds directly in garden in early spring or start in pots and plant out when the weather allows. The plants like sun to part shade (but if you have no shade- mine are do well in complete sun). Press seeds onto moist soil and keep moist -and in light- until germination, which should be approximately 12 days. The seeds look much like dandelion seeds with the fuzz. 40 seeds.
