MADE IN USA Back in 2010 I bought my first assortment of heirloom seeds, off ebay actually, from Blue Ribbon Tomatoes in Kentucky. Unfortunately, they are no longer selling heirloom tomato seed, boo! Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. One of those tomatoes that I just started saving seed from this last year was LIGHT BLUE CHERRY tomato. This tomato performs great and is DIFFERENT! The original tomato, DARK BLUE CHERRY tomato, performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet in 2016. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. Back to the story…These tomato seeds came from seed I had saved in 2016 of DARK BLUE CHERRY. One of the plants of DK BLUE CHERRY I planted out this year, 2017, put out fruit that was lighter in color than normal. All of the fruit on this plant were of lighter color. It was easily apparent because I had two other DK BLUE CHERRY tomato plants growing right next to it with the darker blue fruit. This is an awesome tomato. VERY PRODUCTIVE, this is a great variety FOR KIDS! Easy to grow.A cherry sized, dark pink/violet color tomato. Very TASTY! This was great again in salsa, salads, and just eating as a snack.Great choice for an “HEIRLOOM TASTING PLATTER” with different colors of cherry tomatoes, this one really stands out.Did You Know? It is packed with the antioxidant vitamins A and C, potassium and the B vitamins for heart health, and above all a powerful carotenoid called lycopene. This phytonutrient, which is responsible for the bright red color of tomatoes, has been studied for its role in fighting various cancers, and its ability to lower cholesterol. When tomatoes are cooked, even more lycopene is made available. Lycopene has been shown to be especially effective when eaten with fat-rich foods such as avocado, olive oil, or nuts. Some vegetable varieties produce seed that remains viable for many years (tomatoes) and others produce seed that does not store well under any conditions (onions). I believe seed stored under refrigerated conditions could last 10 years or more. I have just planted some ACE 55 seeds from 2000 during summer 2017. They did great! Kori Sitakame hot chili pepper seeds non-gmo heirloom VERY RARE LANDRACE VARIETY
Quick note: My seeds are grown, harvested and selected by me. I start ALL of my seedlings/transplants, so you know there are no chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, or harsh commercial fertilizers used in the products I produce. I use organic fertilizer, compost, and red worm castings, that’s it! I do not buy foreign seeds or seeds that are out of date. MADE IN USA Back in 2010 I bought my first assortment of heirloom seeds, off ebay actually, from Blue Ribbon Tomatoes. Unfortunately, they are no longer selling heirloom tomato seed, boo! Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. One of the hot peppers I’ve continued to grow, that has been a favorite, is the KORI SIATKAME HOT CHILI. KORI SITAKAME HOT CHILI pepper seeds, heirloom, open-pollinated, non-gmo. 15 seeds per packet. KORI SIATKAME HOT CHILI peppers have a mild chili flavor, are a dark green color, turning bright red, and are fun to grow! Very productive. KORI SITAKAME has performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. Great added to stir fries, salsas, and sauces, or peeper challenges. PROLIFIC you’re going to get a lot of these peppers! Plus, when I first started gardening I always wanted to grow peppers, but only ever got a few per plant. This variety puts on a lot of fruit, you’ll be glad you planted this one.Just did a quick ebay search and CURRENTLY, I AM THE ONLY PERSON SELLING THIS VARIETY OF PEPPER SEED ON EBAY!Originally, when I got this seed, the name alone made it sound like it was from Japan, BUT I was wrong!According to Dan Carmona, on the National Gardening Website…Kori Sitakame means “red chile” “Landrace Chile” From Norogachi, A Tarahumara pueblo in highland Chihuahua. Relatively thin-walled and smooth-skinned triangular fruit. Looks almost translucent when dry. Medium to hot, increasing after a few seconds. The Kori Sitakame is called landrace because the peppers are grown and collected by individual families, and these specific “races” are tied to the land area they where they have been grown for hundreds of years. The areas where farmers still grow the landraces are Northern NM in high elevation villages (approximately 6,000 feet above sea level) that have very secluded fields and short growing seasons. While land-race varieties are genetically distinct from commercial chile cultivars, there is evidence that cross-pollination has occurred between the landrace-types and commercial cultivars, potentially threatening the distinction of these varieties. My seed has not been corrupted by commercial chilies, it’s pure.Medium to hot, increasing after a few seconds. 3″ long. Will produce in the low desert with shade and care, but does better the second year if over-wintered.Prepare KORI SITAKAME chiles by removing the stem, slicing lengthwise through half the pod and removing the seeds. Chop the chile and add to sauces or marinades for beef or chicken. Cook chiles with tomatillos, tomatoes and onions for a spicy sauce. Being a NM type, this makes a great roaster regardless of its small size. Benefits of hot peppers…Hot peppers may help lower blood pressure and high cholesterol, and that’s good news for your heart. The health benefit comes from capsaicin (pronounced kap-say-sin), the same compound that makes chili peppers like cayenne, jalapenos, and habaneros so hot. HEIRLOOM VEGETABLES JUST TASTE BETTER! It’s a Baccatum variety and you will get lots of beautiful peach colored pods. The plants grows to over 3 feet in a pot and grow really big if you plant it in the ground. The pods start off white and then become like a yellow creamy color. After that they get a pink tinge and start to change to a beautiful peach color. They have a thin wall and are not very seedy. For fresh eating, all the baccatums are favored by most chili-heads, you won’t find anyone who says he/she didn’t like the bishop’s hat or Brazilian starfish for example. COYOTE WILD YELLOW CHERRY TOMATO—–20 seeds per packet—–VERY PRODUCTIVE, this is a great variety. 65 days, INDETERMINATEA cluster of ripe “Coyote” tomatoes, still on the vine, was given to Craig LeHoullier by Maye Clement from Vera Cruz, Mexico, in 1990 during her visit to his display at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Harvest Festival. She related that it was a tomato that grew wild in Mexico (Craig’s note: there is more to add, but I need to find the letter she sent to me). Due to the pale color, Craig mistakenly originally listed it in the SSE yearbook as Ivory Currant – but the true name, according to Maye, is indeed “Coyote”.Wild white/yellow cherry from Mexico, large plant gets loaded with them, voted the “Tastiest” tomato at the CHOPTAG 09 tomato tasting, sweet like eating bits of fruit.Delightful little cherry tomatoes are creamy ivory with hints of yellow and an absolutely unforgettable taste. The flavor is not only sweet but is also marked by a fruity complexity. They are so irresistible that you won’t want to stop eating them at harvest time. Plants are large and quite prolific, bearing long clusters of these 1/2-inch delicious little treats. Heirloom variety originally from Mexico. This is close in shape and flavor ot another cherry tomato I currently have available, THE CHAMPAGNE CHERRY TOMATO. Champagne Cherry won “CHOPTAG” IN ’07, so you know they are both delicious. Champagne is just slightly larger than the fruit of Coyote, but both grow to be huge spawling plants with HUNDREDS of tomatoes on each plant. I canned these one year and was able to enjoy them through the winter months.Great choice for an “HEIRLOOM TASTING PLATTER” with different colors. Lots of ways to get creative here.Did You Know? We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative. We pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants. The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political and cultural threats. CUCUMBER ‘Heirloom Mix’ 25 Seeds ALL TYPES MIXED spring summer vegetable garden
FRONTIER SEED CO. USAMADE IN THE USAHEIRLOOM PRODUSE JUST TASTES BETTER!CUCUMBER Heirloom Mix – 25+ Seeds This Heirloom Cucumber Mix offers a variety of cucumbers, which includes Long Green Improved Slicer, Muncher, Space Master 80, Lemon, Armenian Yard Long, Marketmore 76, Straight 8, Alpha Biet, Ashley, Wisconsin SMR-58, and Boston Pickling to name a few. The seeds of all these cucumbers have been RANDOMLY MIXED in ONE SINGLE packet. You will be able to grow a kaleidoscope of cucumbers never seen in supermarkets with different colors, and diverse tastes are all available and included when you start growing these beauties – the surprise factor will end once the fruit forms! Care and Growing Instructions Cucumbers require warm, well-drained soil high in fertility, with a pH of 6–6.8. Consistent, adequate irrigation is needed to produce an abundant crop. Cucumbers are very sensitive to cold. Make sure both soil and air temperatures have warmed prior to planting. Using plastic mulch and row covers will greatly enhance the vigor and potential yields of cucumbers by providing warmth and insect protection. In frost areas, sow under cover in seed trays in early spring. Plant out after last frosts. Sow indoors in 16-cell plug trays about .5″ deep, 1–2 seeds/cell, 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Keep temperature above 69f day and 60f at night with heat pad underneath plug trays if needed. Transplant 1 foot apart. Be careful, do not disturb roots when transplanting. In frost free areas sow directly into the soil in early spring. However, wait until soil is warm, at least 69°f. Cucumber seeds will not germinate at a soil temperature below 45°f. Sow 2 seeds per 1 foot. SpacingSingle Plants: 2 feet each way (minimum)Rows: 2 feet with 1 foot row gap (minimum) Support plants well so they can climb upwards, even when the cucumbers get large. This also protects the cucumbers from slugs. Occasionally a plant can produce very bitter cucumbers so always test a bit before serving to others! Sometimes only the end might be bitter so check each thoroughly. When flowers start forming, feed with slow release potassium-rich organic fertilizer. Fortnightly liquid feed from mid-summer. Once fruit bearing begins, pick daily. Cut the cucumbers off the plant when they are still quite young, otherwise the skin becomes hard and will need peeling. More cucumbers will then be produced. Propagation notes will be supplied with seed packet.
