Pitaya Fruit, Pitahaya Fruit or commonly known as the Dragon fruit is among the most nutritious and wonderful exotic fruits. It is a favorite to many, particularly people of Asian origin. It features a mouth watering light sweet taste, an intense shape and color, not forgetting its outstanding flowers. In addition to being tasty and refreshing, this beautiful fruit boasts of a lot of water and other vital minerals with varied nutritional ingredients. How to sow It is important to note that Dragon Fruit is a sub-tropical plant & is NOT a desert cactus! Scatter the tiny seeds onto a mix of fine potting soil mixed with peat moss or something to boost the water retention. Then cover the seeds with another fine covering of potting soil or soil & sand mixture. Be careful to keep the pot warm & damp but NOT wet! Try to maintain a steady temperature between 16c to 22c. Germination should take between 2 – 4 weeks. Strangely the first 2 leaves look like typical succulent cotyledons. These are the only leaves that the plant will ever produce! the next growth will be the triangular shape stem which is the true growth habit of the plant. There will be small spikes at intervals on the stem. Once the stems have 4 – 6 true leaves you can repot into individual pots. Make sure to give them plenty of sunlight once they germinate to avoid the plants becoming spindly. The plants sometimes put out Ariel roots & love to pull moisture from the environment they grow in. Adding peat moss to the compost will help to encourage moisture retention & rapid growth. BUT do not be tempted to leave the sitting in wet compost….. they must be able to free drain!BUYER BEWARE IF YOU ARE FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY AND SELLING MY ITEM AND SCAMMING PEOPLE FOR MORE MONEY I WILL INCLUDE A FALSE INVOICE AND REPORT YOU TO EBAY , I CHECK ON ALL MY REPEAT BUYERSebay want’s me to provide tracking number so i need to charge for shipping now. ebay want’s me to provide tracking number so i can’t provide any more savings on shipping . now i need to charge for shipping , sorry for this

Hylocereus undatus, also known as the dragon fruit cactus, Cereus undatus, Cereus tricostatus, Hylocereus tricostatus, and pitaya, is a tropical vining cactus in the family Cactaceae. The species H. undatus is native from Southern Mexican down through much of South America they are also farmed across much of tropical Asia. H. Undatus is a vining cactus with green wavy stems that typically have three ribs. The cactus produces brightly colored fruits with a mild sweet flesh and small black seeds. The flesh color of the fruit are dependant on the variety of dragon fruit, these seeds are for the red fruited verity. The flowers are typically white and can be quite large in diameter. A full size plant may grow up to 30 feet high if given proper support. It is commonly grown as an ornamental plant, a food crop for their fruits. Hylocereus undatus is a popular cactus for grafting stock because of their fast growth and their resistance to root rot. USDA Hardiness Zone 10-11. Hylocereus Undatus seeds should be spread across a sterilized cactus substrate mix. Cover the seed with a thin layer of substrate mix and mist the surface to settle down the soil and seeds. Cover with a humidity bag, dome, or plastic wrap. Place the container in a warm place with partial shade and keep the soil moist, but not soaking wet. Seeds will germinate best with high temp in the day and low temp at night. Seeds should germinate within 7-20 days. Mist or bottom water when the soil is almost dry. Even with optimal conditions some seeds may be slow or sporadic in their germination. Place established plants in full sun to partial shade. Too much shade will make cacti and succulents etiolate during growth.
