Common Rue Herb 100+ SEEDS (Ruta graveolens) 2022 Crop. Grown in USA Ruta graveolens or Common Rue is an evergreen woody herb with feathery foliage. The leaves usually have two or three leaflets and are often gray-green or blue-green in colour. The small yellow flowers are borne in clusters and develop into seed pods after pollination. Trim plants back after flowering to promote more flowers and to keep seeds from crowding your established plants. Common Rue releases a sweet medicinal smell when touched or crushed. This smell is the reason I grow it in my garden. The smell is also a natural pest repellent. This is also one of the few plants that tiger swallowtail butterflies visit in my garden. Rue is hardy between zones 4 – 10 in the United States. All seeds come from open pollinated plants grown in my garden in Southern California.
