Mullein is a bi-ennial which means it lives two years. The first year it gets a mound of large soft, fuzzy leaves used for medicinal purposes. The second year it shoots up a tall stalk, up to 6 feet tall, that gets yellow flowers and the flowers are used medicinally also. Mullein is an anti-tussive used for helping clear mucous membranes. The seeds needs light to germinate. Press onto soil and keep moist and in light until germination which is approximately 5 to 7 days. The seeds may be planted indoors and transplanted in Spring or may be direct seeded either in late Fall to overwinter and emmerge in Spring or seeded early Spring.
