5+ Common Hoptree Seeds | Ptelea Trifoliata | Wafer Ash Tree | Florida Native

Common Hoptree Ptelea Trifoliata AKA – Wafer Ash Tree This very unique looking tree grows natively on only one of our farms. It grows on a very, very steep slope. A few feet further down hill, it’s so steep you must turn to face the hill and slide backwards to get to the bottom. We called this tree the ‘Silver Dollar’ Tree because the seeds look like silver dollars. 2022 is the first year we have caught the tree seeding with enough time to collect the many little ‘dollars’. We did a little research to find out it’s called the Common Hoptree. It was supposedly used when hops were in short supply. The smell of the seeds are pretty unique, but we don’t think we would ‘brew’ them. Our little trees are tucked in a forest of heavy woods with very large trees overhead. This provides little sun and the trees are growing kind of straggly. The tallest ones are about waist high and about 3 feet around. It’s the larval host for the Giant Swallowtail butterfly. Carrion Flies pollinate the flowers. These seeds were harvested July 2024 Seed Starting Leave the seeds in tact with the ‘wings’ attached Sow seeds in the Fall for natural over Winter stratification for sprigs by Spring Alternatively, Place inside of a plastic bag, seal & keep in the fridge for 4-6 months prior to planting. Acrocarpus Fraxinifolius Tree 100 Seeds, Pink Cedar Erosion Control Fodder

Acrocarpus Fraxinifolius Also known as: Pink Cedar, Australian ash, Indian ash A large deciduous emergent tree native to Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, and Thailand. Relatively rare in cultivation. An ideal and useful addition for the warm or hot exotic garden, attaining heights of 30-60 meters. This tree, while still leafless in the Spring, has up to 20 dense heads of attractive and unusual scarlet reddish-green to orange flowers hanging from the branch ends with dripping nectar. The leaves are bright red when young, giving the tree its characteristic appearance. The foliage can be used as fodder, and is suitable for mulching. Fruit is an elongated and flattened pod, narrowly winged, 10-18 seeded. The wood of Pink Cedar is hard, strong, and very decorative . Because it physically resembles ash and walnut woods, it is used as a substitute for these two species. The wood is used in the construction of houses and in the manufacture of furniture and packing cases. In Africa the tree is planted to provide shade in coffee plantations. Very good for reforestation of open areas, and has been recommended for erosion control reinforcing riverbanks and stabilizing terraces. A good source of nectar and a good bee and bird forage. It is sensitive to freezes and best suited to the tropics in USDA Zone 10 or above. Though some report that it can handle 25-30F. This offer is for 100 seeds. We also offer packs of 20 and 500 seeds in our store! For complete transparency we include payment processing & Ebay fees in our shipping/handling cos*DISCLAIMER*NO RETURNS/REFUNDS/REPLACEMENTS ON SEEDSMost specialty seeds we offer are NOT fast to germinate. Many take several weeks, months, and some even up towards a year depending on dormancy, region, season etc. It is important that the buyer understands that seeds are perishable products and seed germination can be adversely affected by such factors as mold/fungus, bugs, temperature, moisture content, light intensity, dormancy, care, contamination of planting media among many other reasons. These factors are totally out of The Plant Attraction’s control and are the buyer’s responsibility and risk. Germination recommendations are sent with each order and the buyer is free to research and use their own methods. Floating seeds do not always indicate that the seed is not viable. Many times it is a misconception because the seed does not have the density to sink in water. Accordingly, The Plant Attraction does not guarantee seeds to perform properly regardless of conditions or buyer’s methods or mistakes. Since 2006 we have been doing our best to hand sort and provide the freshest, cleanest harvest that is free of defects and bugs.
