HOW TO PLANT Old German Dill SeedsOld German Dill (Anethum graveolens var. germamicum) is a popular herb that is easy to grow and produces flavorful foliage and seeds used in various culinary dishes. Here are the basic steps for planting Old German Dill seeds:Choose a site: Old German Dill prefers full sun and well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Dill can also tolerate partial shade and doesn’t require rich soil.Prepare the soil: Work the soil to a depth of at least 6 inches to loosen it and remove any large debris. You can amend your soil with well-rotted manure or compost if your soil is poor.Sow the seeds: Sow the seeds directly into the soil about 1/8 inch deep and about 1/2-1 inch apart. You can also start the seeds indoors about 4-6 weeks before the last frost in your area and transplant them to your garden when the soil has warmed up.Water the area: After planting the seeds, water the area thoroughly to help settle the soil and ensure good seed-to-soil contact. Be sure to keep the soil consistently moist until the seedlings are established.Thin seedlings: Once they are up, thin them to the final spacing of about 3-5 inches apart, depending on the variety you are growing. This will give them enough room to grow and spread out.Wait for germination: it can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks for the Old German Dill seeds to germinate. Be patient and keep an eye on the area, watering as needed to keep the soil moist.Care for seedlings: Once the seedlings are established, continue to keep the soil evenly moist and provide a balanced, slow-release fertilizer if needed. Keep an eye out for pests and diseases and take appropriate action if necessary.Harvest and save the seeds: Once the plants have developed their seed heads, wait for them to dry and become brownish, you can harvest the seed heads and dry them further by laying them out in a dry area. Once dry, you can shake them and collect the seeds. It is rich in flavonoids, which have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. Dill also improves heart health for other reasons. Research on animals shows that dill can also reduce LDL-cholesterol levels.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATRONAGE AND HAPPY GARDENING! HOMEGROWN HEIRLOOM VEGETABLES JUST TASTE BETTER! INCLUDES BASIC GROWING INSTRUCTIONS a quick note on seed storage… I feel through my experience the best way to store your seed is in the refrigerator. Some vegetable varieties produce seed that remains viable for many years (tomatoes) and others produce seed that does not store well under any conditions (onions). I believe seed stored under refrigerated conditions could last 10 years or more. I planted some ACE 55 seeds from 2000 in the summer of 2017. They did great! Germination rates were in the 90% and above range…these seeds had been sitting in a box in my garage for the past 17 years! I have some of that seed available now listed as Marlboro Ace 55. GET SOME! At Frontier Farms, we specialize in many varieties of Heirloom tomatoes, peppers, plus many other vegetable varieties. WHAT IS AN HEIRLOOM? Heirloom plants are grown from seeds that have been handed down thru generations, saved from year to year, some varieties dating back hundreds of years. Many made the migration from Europe and the East with the immigrants coming to the USA. The seeds are never cross pollinated and so they remain true to their particular characteristics. Heirloom tomatoes come in all colors, shapes, and sizes ? Reds, Pinks, Yellows, Orange, White, Green, Striped, and Black. Ranging in sizes of cherry and grape to large grapefruit size, meaty, or juicy. WHY HEIRLOOM? These tomatoes are more natural, they are non GMO (genetically modified). They do not have as long of a shelf life as store bought tomatoes, but that is what makes them special. They have a real fantastic tomato flavor not found in grocery store offerings. These tomatoes are indeterminate (they grow all season, they flower all season and they produce tomatoes all season. They don’t stop until frost. Once heirloom tomatoes are picked, they do not have a long shelf life as hybrids but they more than make up for any shortcomings in flavor. Please see my other listings and my store for more great varieties and thank you!

Thyme, Wild – Heirloom Seeds – Medicinal & Culinary Herb – GMO Free (Thymus serp

Wild Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) – 100 Seeds •Heirloom •Non-GMO •American grown seeds •Perennial •USDA Zones: 3-9 Description: Thymus serpyllum is a medium-sized evergreen shrub. It is frost resistant, in leaf all year, blooms in July and August, and the seeds ripen in August and September. Bees, flies, and Lepidoptera pollinate the species, which is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). It is well-known for its ability to attract wildlife. The flowering parts of the plant are used to make medicine. People take wild thyme for breathing problems including cough, bronchitis, and swollen airways. They also take it for kidney and bladder disorders, to improve blood circulation, to lower bad cholesterol, and to treat intestinal gas and colic. They also use it to improve sleep, to stimulate the immune system, and to treat infections. Growing Instructions: To establish Thyme from seeds, sow the herb seeds indoors on sterile starting mix 6 – 8 weeks before last frost. Keep the Thyme seeds moist until germination. Once frost season has passed transplant the Thyme seedlings into the garden in a sunny location. Do not over water Thyme. It likes to dry out in-between waterings. Thyme herb plants dislike wet foliage, so surrounding the plant with a layer of gravel can help this. This variety of Thyme is often planted near vegetables to help control flea beetles and several cabbage pests. Environment: Full sun to partial shade Soil Type: Moist, well-drained, pH 6.6 – 7.8 Depth: Press seed onto surface of soil, do not cover seed Sowing Rate: 1 seed per inch Moisture: Keep moist until germination Plant Spacing: Rows 18 inches a part; thin seedlings 8 – 12 inches •FREE SHIPPING on all orders of $35 or more. •Flat Rate shipping no matter how many seeds you order. •Growing instructions included on each seed packet. *All information is provided for educational purposes only.

Ivan’s Cat Grass Seeds – Certified Organic, Untreated, Non-GMO USA Grown Blend

If you observe cats roaming in the great outdoors, chances are you will occasionally find them munching on grasses. “Cat Grass” is actually a catch-all for any number of domesticated grain grasses, which cats typically munch on well before their seeding stage. Of course, each cat has their own idiosyncratic preferences, but in the absence of any wild grasses, our cat grass blend works wonders. Our blend is named after our Maine Coon Ivan, who readily munches on this whenever we plant it. It’s equal parts barley (Hordeum vulgare), oat (Avena sativa), rye (Secale cereal) and wheat (Triticum aestivum). Plant densely in contained areas wherever cats are likely to discover it. 25 days from seed to cat-snackable foliage. Annual. Seeds are certified organic.
