BLUE VERVAIN Flower Seeds Verbena Hastata (1000 to 10,000 SEEDS) Medicinal
BLUE VERVAIN Flower Seeds Verbena Hastata (1000 to 10,000 SEEDS) Medicinal ********** Blue Vervain is a widespread, native perennial which can be found in moist meadows and prairies, streambanks, and floodplains. The blue-lavender flowers occur in spikes at the tops of the branches. It is a good component for reclamation and pollinator mixes for moister sites. Attracts a wide array of native bees and butterflies. Direct sow these verbena seeds for sale in late fall, pressing the seed into the surface of the soil. For spring planting, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 30 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination. 10 Wonderful Benefits of Blue Vervain Detoxifies the Body One of the oldest and most reliable uses of blue vervain is as a diuretic, as it stimulates the release of urine from the body. It can help eliminate toxins from the system, as well as excess water, salts, and fat. It also helps protect the kidneys and the liver by reducing the presence of dangerous substances and toxins that accumulate there. If you have a bladder infection, blue vervain can be a highly effective remedy. Relieves Symptoms of Respiratory Disorders If you regularly suffer from chest congestion, colds, chronic bronchitis, sore throats or respiratory inflammation, blue vervain tea can be a simple and pleasant means of clearing up your tracts and eliminating irritation. Coughs and colds from Rome to California have been cured with blue vervain, as it also acts as an expectorant, helping to expel mucus and phlegm that have accumulated in the respiratory tracts. Keeps Nervous System Healthy The soothing properties of blue vervain can effectively treat a number of ailments, including nervous disorders, chronic anxiety, stress, and sleeplessness. Sometimes, our body’s release and management of hormones are less than optimal, and over time, this can cause significant health problems. A cup of blue vervain tea can calm our nerves and re-balance hormone levels, ensuring that our body can rest. Provides Relief from Depression Blue vervain has commonly been turned to in the past for people suffering from depression and unpredictable moods. This relaxing and uplifting herb can promote positive thinking, stimulate the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, and improve your mood by clearing your mind of worry. Anti-parasitic Activity Although intestinal worms and parasites aren’t as common as they used to be before proper food preparation guidelines and health advanced, the anti-parasitic nature of blue vervain is still relied on in some cultures and situations. The natural anti-parasitic nature of the herb means that you can eliminate or prevent the growth and development of any worms or parasites in your intestines, thereby protecting your digestive health. Eases Menstruation For women who suffer from severe periods, blue vervain can be a blessing. It has been known to reduce cramps and general discomfort, primarily for women who are bloated and cramping. Its effects on mood and depression can also soften the symptoms of menstruation, while its help in the regulation of hormones will keep you balanced and functional. Oral Health The tannins present in blue vervain make it a very effective way to protect your overall oral health. Whether you have bleeding gums, mouth ulcers, bacterial infections, or any other unhealthy aspect of your oral health, blue vervain tea can quickly clear it up. Tannins function as antioxidants to promote healing and prevent further degradation to the tissue. Breastfeeding Mothers Some women struggle to produce enough milk for their baby, and this is completely natural in many cases. However, blue vervain can help stimulate the production of milk in the breast, ensuring that your baby has all of the nutrients it needs in that crucial period of growth. Reduces Pain & Inflammation Blue vervain can act as a powerful analgesic. It seems to be particularly effective in arthritic pain and the pain from kidney stones. The organic compounds present in blue vervain can numb certain areas and stop the pain from registering in those nerves, thereby giving you some relief. The anti-inflammatory properties of the herb are the perfect complement to this pain relief, as it will also reduce swelling and inflammation, such as in cases of gout, arthritis, or inflammation in the gastrointestinal system. Word of Caution: There are not many reports of side effects from blue vervain or verbena supplements, but upset stomachs occasionally occur. Also, when used in larger concentrations, such as in medicinal supplements, mild skin rashes may also appear. As with any herbal remedy, it can interact with certain medications and other treatments, so it is always wise to speak with a doctor before adding it to your regimen. Sowing: Direct sow these verbena seeds in late fall, pressing the seed into the surface of the soil. For spring planting, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 30 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination. Growing: Water seedlings until they become established. Since they prefer moist or wet soil, these plants can tolerate short periods of flooding; they can also adapt to slightly drier soil. This plant attracts bees and butterflies, and readily spreads by rhizomes ad reseeding. 1oz Italian Roma VF Tomato Seeds – (Approx 10,000 Seeds) Non-GMO – Always Fresh
1oz Italian Roma VF Tomato Seeds – (Approx 10,000 Seeds) Non-GMO – Always Fresh 75-80 days. Roma VF Tomato Seeds. Solanum lycoperscium. Determinate. Non-GMO. Annual. Roma VF tomato seeds produce a tangy, meaty flavor that makes them a favorite for tomato paste, sun-dried tomatoes, tomato sauces, and stews. Roma VF tomato seeds were originally bred in the 1950’s specifically for resistance to Verticillium wilt and Fusarium wilt (VF). They are among the best Roma tomato seeds for growing plum tomatoes in containers because of their determinate growth habit. Start From Seeds: Though you can purchase young Roma plants from garden centers, growing your own from seed has much more to offer! Not only do you get to know the age of your tomato plant, you’ll know exactly how and where it was grown. Timing and proper seedling care is important when it comes to maximizing yields. Plant seeds indoors six to eight weeks before the date of the average last spring frost. Large Container: If you plan to grow them in containers, choose the largest one that you can find. Growing with great vigor, these tomato plants have a root system to match. Small containers will only cause the roots to cramp and tomato production to decrease. To reach the maximum tomato production potential, grow these plants in 20-gallon containers. Tomato Cage: Although these plants will not grow as large as other indeterminate varieties, they will still need the support of a tomato cage. Select a cage that is at least 5 feet tall for the best results. Full Sun: Like all other tomato plants, the Roma variety will need at least 6–8 hours of daily direct sunlight. While they will grow in slightly less, the yields and fruits themselves will be smaller. Fertile, Well-Draining Soil: These plants are heavy feeders and will require the in-ground gardener to amend existing soil with plenty of compost or aged manure. Container gardeners should select the highest quality potting soil available. In either case, ensure that the soil drains properly. Slow-draining soils can smother tomato roots and cause rot. Check Our Store For Many More Flowers, Fruit & Vegetables ***BROCCOLI GROWING GUIDE BELOW*** Broccoli is a cool-season crop that, like spinach, can be grown in the spring or fall. In fact, you may be able to get a continual harvest throughout both seasons if you time planting correctly. A member of the cabbage family, broccoli is rich in vitamins. PLANTING Broccoli can germinate in soil with temperatures as low as 40ºF. Broccoli requires full sun and moist, fertile soil that’s slightly acidic. Work in 2 to 4 inches of rich compost or a thin layer of manure before planting. For spring plantings, seed or set transplants 2 to 3 weeks before last spring frost date. If you transplant, assume 10 less days for growth or the “days to maturity” on the seed packet. For fall plantings, seed 85 to 100 days before your average first fall frost. If you live in a warm climate, a fall planting is best, as broccoli thrives in cool weather. Plant seeds in mid- to late-summer in most places. Check your frost dates. Plant seeds ½ inch deep, or set transplants slightly deeper than they were grown originally. Within a row, space your plants 12 to 24 inches apart with 36 inches between each row. Space plants 12 to 24 inches apart, depending on the side heads you want to harvest. If you over seed, you will need to thin seedlings to 12 inches apart to give room for the broccoli to grow. PLANT CARE Fertilize three weeks after transplanting. Provide consistent soil moisture with regular watering, especially in drought conditions. Some varieties of broccoli are heat tolerant, but all need moisture. Do not get developing heads wet when watering. Roots are very shallow, do not cultivate. Suffocate weeds with mulch. Mulch will also help to keep soil temperatures down. PESTS/DISEASES Flea Beetles Aphids: Curling leaves may mean that the plant’s sap is being sucked by insects. Apply soapy water to all sides of leaves whenever you see aphids. Downy mildew: Yellow patches on leaves are usually caused by moist weather. Keep leaves as dry as possible with good air circulation. Buy resistant varieties. Cabbage loopers: Small holes on the leaves between the veins mean small green caterpillars are present. Look at the undersides of the leaves. Hand pick if the problem is small or control with Bacillus thuringiensis. Use a floating row cover just after planting through harvest to prevent caterpillars. Cabbageworms and other worm pests: Treat same as loopers. Whiteflies Nitrogen deficiency: If the bottom leaves turn yellow and the problem continues toward the top of the plant, the plants need a high nitrogen (but low phosphorus) fertilizer or bloodmeal. Blood meal is a quick Nitrogen fix for yellowing leaves. Clubroot: Quickly wilting plants may be due to this fungus in the soil. The entire plant, including all roots and root tendrils, must be gently dug up and removed. If the roots are gnarled and misshapen, then clubroot is the problem. Act quickly to remove the plants so that the fungus doesn’t continue to live in the soil. Do not compost the plants. Raise the pH of your soil to above 7.2. You may need to sterilize your soil, too. HARVEST/STORAGE In terms of timing: Harvest broccoli when the buds of the head are firm and tight before the heads flower. If you do see yellow petals, harvest immediately. For best taste, harvest in the morning before the soil heats up. Cut heads from the plant. taking at least 6 inches of stem. Cut the stalk of the main head at a slant, about 5 to 8 inches below the head. Most varieties have side-shoots that will continue to develop after the main head is harvested. You can harvest from one plant for many weeks, in some cases, from spring to fall, if you’re summer isn’t too hot. Store broccoli in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If you wash before storing, make sure to dry it thoroughly. Broccoli can be blanched and frozen for up to one year.
