Desert Dandelion Seeds (Malacothrix glabrata) -30 seeds- These were gathered wild in the Mojave desert 2023 Malacothrix glabrata is a desert wildflower known generally as the smooth desert dandelion or desert dandelion. The species is native to the western United States, excluding much of the Pacific Northwest, and into northern Mexico. Desert Dandelion is typically 5 to 15 inches tall with a 1.5 to 2.5 inch flower head. Its fragrant, daisy-like flowers are in shades of yellow or white, and undeveloped flowers have a red "button" in the center of the flower head. Flower Color is Yellow, pale yellow, rarely white; heads 1¾ inches or more; resemble common dandelion; young or immature flower heads have a red or reddish spot in the center; flowers mostly solitary; florets 5-lobed, strap-shaped, Common and abundant following winters with heavy rainfall; plains and mesas; coarse soils, rocky hillsides, open areas or among shrubs in desert habitats, often in creosote bushes, sandy washes and flats, bush communities, foothill woodlands.
