Evening primrose, a bi-ennial, produces a rosette of leaves the first year and flower stalks grow the second year. Can get five feet tall. Lots of yellow flowers start blooming in June and continue until late summer. The flowers open in late afternoon and fade the following morning. The roots are eaten both raw and cooked. The leaves are astringent and sedative. The seed oil is a source of gamma-linoleic acid. Likes full sun. Space 2 feet apart. Give seed a 2-3 month cold cycle or sprinkle outdoors in fall for winter to naturally cycle the seed, or, start seed indoors by pressing onto moist soil and keep moist until germination which should be 14-21 days. 40 seeds per pkg.
